Dwarfism Vocabulary

LP (abbreviation of "little person")
Most preferred term.

AP (abbreviation of "average-statured person" or "average-size person"), seldom BP
Opposite to little person. Avoid words like "normal-sized person"! It would mean that little people are not normal.

Dwarf (plural "dwarves"!)
Acceptable term for little person. It often means non-proportional LP.

Short-statured person
Acceptable term for little person.

Midget
Although it means little person (often proportional), too, it is very offensive! It is like "ne*ro" for African-American. Avoid this word. It is referred as M-Word.

Dwarfism
When somebody have dwarfism it means that he/she is a little person.

Proportional or Proportionate
Proportional LPs have small trunk, too (not only legs and arms). This can be for example caused by grown hormone deficity.

Non-Proportional, Non-Proportionate, or Disproportionate
Proportional LPs have small legs and arms, but normal trunks. This can be for example caused by achondroplasia

Achon
Person with achondroplasia (most common disease causing dwarfism). It can be used as adjective, too (e.g. I'm an achon boy).

Grown hormone deficity
Disease causing dwarfism. It can be cured.

SED (abbreviation of Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita)
Another form of dwarfism.

OI (abbreviation of Osteogenesis imperfecta)
Illness which can cause dwarfism.

Limb-Lengthening
Operation which straighten limbs so that the person would be taller.

Inter-spacial
Adjective for mixed couples when one is a LP and the other one has average height.

Microphilia
A kind of fetishism. Those people are attracted to little people. It is seldom and it affect nearly always only men. For those people I could recommend BP Who Wanna Meet LP. But there is a lot of offensive groups and sites. It you still have no idea, look at Midget Lovers (not for children).
